Foreign Policy - Syria & Iraq: A Comedy Of Errors?

Five questions for approaching the US war inside Syria
Rachel Maddow outlines five questions to serve as a guide for understanding anti-ISIS operations in Syria and what we know about their answers so far after the war’s first day.

5. Is it legal?

What is legal anymore, really? Didn't Congress make insider trading (like stacking the deck in a poker game) legal for themselves for a ton of years and not investigate... themselves?

Didn't Dick Cheney & Bush mislead us in to a war, that they knew would destabilize the region, and get away without their media arm saying a thing (& still silent on the matter as far as proof goes)? i.e. 1. "Hubris" (Full Film) Iraq War Documentary - Rachel Maddow (02-18-2013) & 2. "Why We Did It" - The Invasion of Iraq (FULL)

4. What are the risks to civilians?

ISIS and Assad are essentially competitor terror groups (&, apparently allies! See video below) by diminishing one we just strengthen the other against the civilians. Until both are degraded and destroyed the threat to civilians will be great, especially when you consider that ISIS/ISIL may actually be better to civilians than Assad's forces are. Though, both are committing war crimes no doubt.

If we think hunting down individual "terrorists" in a country on the other side of the planet with our drones is more important than any innocents nearby then we may have another Iraq on our hands. If we take down the two terror groups and allow the civilians to band together locally, we have a much better chance of pulling the area out of it's quagmire.

3. How will Syria react?

Syria was begging for helpwhen Assad was bombing and raping the population. Did he get everyone already?

Turns out, no...

Update Sep 30th - Notice how Assad & ISIS/ISIL seem to be allies:  Hadi al-Bahra - The president of the Syrian National Coalition, Hadi al-Bahra, discusses the opposition movement's fight to defeat ISIS and gain liberation from Bashar al-Assad. (6:41):

2. How will the world react?

Russia and China veto stuff for political reasons with China following Russia's lead. General populations will be relieved that Assad is gone and no one will care about ISIS EXCEPT for one thing, if we don't go after our own criminals and continue under the hypocrisy that we are in the right of that 'cancers of terrorism', isn't a cultural thing that we too have experienced and that we helped create over there... we will probably just make a bigger mess. The only way out now is to go all in.

1. Will it work?

Well, that depends on what the GOP does. Their media (they own most of it) carries allot of influence in terms of propaganda. etc. The media do echo chambers often. If they do a positive echo chamber things will get better. If they do a negative one things will get worse. It's not like they don't know what they are doing...

Note on Congress:

Obama broke precedent by asking Congress for approval to strike Syria... i.e. no President before Obama has asked for approval for limited military strikes. By doing so Obama restricted the power of future Presidents by reminding the Congress about their Constitutional duty. Given that WE ARE NOT THE BRITISH AND THIS IS NOT ENGLAND... why not keep that Congressional authority as given by the Constitution and not make stuff up, i.e.
Daily Show - British Parliament and the United States Congress take drastically different approaches to debating the decision to start a war against ISIS. (8:56):

Fox News's False Patriotism In It's Use Of It's Anti-Obama Echo Chamber

Background: The Anti-Obama Echo Chamber
The Way We War - Although ISIS and the Ebola outbreak pose serious threats to the world, the media dedicates its time to President Barack Obama's "latte salute." (7:15):

Some of the stuff the GOP is doing - using it's media arm - is just mind blowing in it's outright hypocrisy & betrayal of the Constitution...

At 1:30 John is asked a question about why Congress hasn't debated this war and he replies because that's not how typically things work! (It seems Congress can't even word a resolution on something as serious as "war"!).

At 2:10 You see a bunch of"Republicans" acting like kings thinking the President should come to them and ask for permission rather than they themselves exerting their Constitutional authority. It's not Congress's job to sit back and wait for others to remind them of their responsibilities (which they haven't been doing for years anyways).

Highlights

North Korea has an army of millions and a few thousand people armed with our Military's weapons that we gave the Iraqis... pose an existential threat to us? What poppycock. (fear mongering)

Really? Congress doesn't debate a thing and we are talking about a salute to plane departure escort marines when the President walks off the plane?

Jon Stewart says it simply;

Eric Bolling apologizes and reveals what it will take for Fox News to stop being such assholes

It is un-American to criticize the President during a time of war!

Greg Gutfeld, Asshole of the Day for September 25, 2014
Kimberly Guilfoyle took a moment to salute Major Mariam Al Mansouri, who reportedly led her country’s airstrikes Monday against the Islamic State. Guilfoyle noted how rich it was that an Arab woman was leading the charge against the militant group, given that women aren’t even allowed to drive in some countries in the region.

"The problem is after she bombed it she couldn’t park it," co-host Greg Gutfeld quipped. “I salute her.” (for that)

"Would that be considered boobs on the ground or no?" Eric Bolling chimed in.

"Khorasan & the media's 'war hysteria'"

Bill Crystal is a perfect example of bias in the media:

He's a regular on the Media (CNN & FOX NEWS & Even on MSNBC! Morning Joe?). Having him on without a disclaimer is the art of propaganda (owners are connected).

Some evidence on Bill Crystal's accuracy from the public record (info links)...
